Irish Sculptor of figurative and portraits in bronze

Welcome to the website of Irish sculptor Stuart McGrath. Here you can see bronze portraits, figurative and contemporary sculpture. For centuries artists have used this versatile medium to create beautiful sculptures. Bronze is a tactile material which lends itself well to my expressive figurative forms and bronze portraits.

Using traditional methods of lost wax method and sand casting I can create various textures and impressions. I enjoy making classical and contemporary figurative bronze sculptures inspired by the human form to reflect the beauty, strength and vitality of the figure.

I like to draw upon the influences of the Renaissance, human anatomy in the tradition of this versatile material as seen over the centuries in the Parisian Salon, Rome, Florence. Portrait art form has a histroy going back to antiquity, often used by people to capture the mood, feeling, personality and psyche of the sitter

Having worked on Public art and sculpture Commemorative statues in bronze, I find it a diverse and detailed medium to use, as in different contexts it can convey different feelings. All my figurative sculptures are limited edition and collectors pieces. Bronze busts, portraits and plaques are made to order.
